Daniel's annoying voice kept echoing in my mind. He tried to explain the kiss with the bartender but how could I trust him again? The air backpacked tension, and the cool night breeze did little to calm my racing thoughts. I found myself pacing the sidewalk, head a whirlwind of emotions. Just moments ago, everything felt so right between me and him, and now it's all slipping through my fingers like sand. I can't shake the feeling that their passionate encounter had changed everything. I lean back against the brick wall of the back of the bar, my phone buzzing. It's a text from Daniel: βKat, please. Letβs talk. I canβt lose you over this.β I sigh as I hesitate, fingers hovering over the dimly lot screen. I lock my phone and keep it clenched in my hand. Deep down, I know I need to address what happened, but part of me wants to run away, to escape the mess we'd created.
